As we ring in the new year, we all make New Year's resolutions to loose weight, get organized, find a better job, and more. As I watched the Rose Parade this morning, I was amazed to see the Ohio State School for the Blind Marching Band coming down the street. Yes, all blind students! They march with sighted guides to keep them in line and do formations just like any other marching band. They even spell out Ohio, in braille of course. The idea came about when a local school for the deaf decided they wanted a band at their football games. The two schools teamed up, and the first blind marching band was born. When the students were asked about embarking on this adventure, they were thrilled and scared, but willing to try. The Band director, Dan Kelly, says "My philosophy is - if it can't be done, let's do it anyway," That is the epitome of being blindsighted! As you make your New Year's resolutions, I want you to think of something you don't think you can do, but want to. Now stop making excuses and do it!
