Have you ever had a day when you didn't even want to get out of bed? Yet you got up, took care of the kids and went to work. Why? Because you had responsibilities. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, and there are days when my medicine doesn't work as well as I might like. Getting out of bed is painful, but laying in bed isn't that much better at the end of the day, so I get up. Recently I was talking to someone at work and they noticed that I seemed to be in a lot of pain. She asked what was gong on, and I laughed and told her that my joints and I were having an argument, and they were winning today. We talked for a few minutes and I told her about my situation. She asked me how long this had been going on. I told her I was diagnosed in 2001. She surprised me by telling me that she had never known. She said that I never seemed to let anything get me down, and always had a smile and a friendly word for others and I never complained. That's when I realized that the positive attitude that I was using to help me get through my day was helping others get through theirs, without even trying. So, the next time you don't feel like getting out of bed, put on a smile and make someone elses day. Last Updated (Saturday, 02 January 2010 00:03) |
